What is a renal diet?

  • There is no standard renal diet - it is a complex therapeutic diet which may limit sodium, phosphorus and potassium depending on the individual needs of a kidney patient, their stage of kidney disease and their medications.

Renal Dietitian

  • The Canadian Association of Nephrology Dietitians (CAND) was organized in 1975 as a subcommittee of the Canadian Society of Nephrology.
  • Our mission is to support Canadian Dietitians in their provision of quality care to patients with renal disease.
  • We have regional representatives from across Canada.
